Frontignan
Frontignan ( Occitan: Frontinhan ) is a town in the department of Hérault in the Languedoc- Roussillon region in southern France. It has 22,719 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) and is the seat of government of the canton of the same name. The inhabitants are called " Frontignanais ". Since the merger of the municipalities Frontignan La Peyrade and the city is called officially Frontignan -La Peyrade. The inhabitants of La Peyrade feel but still more the nearer town of Sète as belonging Frontignan.
Geography
Frontignan located 7 km northeast of the town of Sète on to Montpellier ( 21 km) road leading. Neighboring municipalities are Gigean in the North, Vic- la -Gardiole in the northeast, Villeneuve- lès -Maguelone in the east, Sète, in the southwest, and Balaruc -les- Bains and Balaruc -le- Vieux in the West. In the south the municipality is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea. Through the city in the Rhône- Sète Canal runs.

The main industry is the summer tourism in the southern district of Frontignan -Plage right on the Gulf of Lions (Mediterranean).
Great importance is next to the vineyard. In Frontignan exclusively Muscat is grown, from the fruity-spicy sweet wine Muscat de Frontignan is made. The wine cooperative Frontignan Coopérative is the largest producer. Also market 24 independent winegrowers their products themselves
From 1900 to 1986, a petroleum refinery was operated in Frontignan. On their site there is now only a large tank farm.
Since the last decade of the 20th century, the industry focused on fisheries and the plastics processing industry.
