Frost line (astrophysics)

The ice line and snow line describes the distance in a protoplanetary disk of a protostar, where the temperature reaches a value at which water ice condensed from the gas of the disk. The radius is dependent on the radiation intensity of the proto star, the accretion and the opacity and the density in the disk. The temperature is in a range from 145 to 170 Kelvin, depending on the partial pressure of water vapor at the site of ice line. The ice line separates the inner planet formation region arise in the rocky planets of the outer region, can condense in the gas planets.
