Fructooligosaccharide

Oligofructose ( fructooligosaccharide ) is a complex sugars, which has between 30 and 50 % of the sweetening power of sucrose and is therefore used as a sugar substitute.

Since digestive enzymes can not break down, it belongs to the fiber and is, for example, added as a prebiotic yogurt to stimulate the desirable colonic bacteria for a healthy intestinal flora. Include food, no other sugars ( mono- or di-saccharides ), so they may be advertised as " sugar-free " despite the sweet taste. Do they contain more mono-or disaccharides (eg from fruit) so they can be declared as " no added sugar ". Oligofructose (such as inulin) from 3-10 β -glycosidically linked fructose units built and is marketed in a patented form under the name Raftiline or Raftilose.
