Fujio Mitarai

Fujio Mitarai (Japanese御 手洗 冨 士夫, Fujio Mitarai, born September 23, 1935 in Kamae (today: Saiki ), Oita Prefecture, Japan) is president of Canon and since May 2006, Chief of the Japanese Business Association Nippon Keidanren.

Since April 1961 Mitarai works for Canon. Before that, he studied at the Chuo University.

Five years after the start of his career was Fujio Mitarai by his uncle, Takeshi Mitarai, who was a co-founder of Canon, sent to the USA. There he was to do later as Chairman of Canon U.S. camera manufacturers Nikon and Pentax competition. The latter dominated at that time the U.S. market cameras, while Canon had only seven employees in the country.
