Fußball-Oberliga Mittelrhein

The Middle Rhine League (until 2008 Federation League Middle Rhine ) is the top division of the Football Association of the Middle Rhine. It thus forms the plane of the league, who is currently fifth highest class in the German league system.

History

The league was initially launched in 1956 as the Association League Middle Rhine into life and originally comprised 15 clubs. She solved this two-track division as then the highest amateur class in the association area from, and until 1978 was the third highest league in the German league system. Typically, the master of the Association League Middle Rhine took it along with the masters of the Association League Lower Rhine and the two relay winners of the fifth division Westphalia initially to the promotion round to the 2nd Oberliga West, from 1964, to the promotion round to the Regional League West and most recently in 1975 on the promotion round to 2. Bundesliga North part. In 1978, the Amateur Oberliga Nordrhein was founded as a new third- highest division, composed of the best teams in each of the fifth division the middle Rhine and the Association League Lower Rhine. The Association League Middle Rhine was thus only the fourth highest league. In return, however, accounted for at the same time the promotion round, the Middle Rhine Master therefore qualified automatically for the league. After introduction of the Regional League Middle Rhine 1994, the association was only the fifth highest class. After the introduction of the 3rd Liga and simultaneous renaming to its present name Middle Rhine League in 2008, she was the sixth- highest division. With elimination of the NRW-Liga from the 2012/13 season, however, the Middle Rhine League is back fünftklassig and also the first in its history the status of a premier league.
