Fuzzy Vandivier

Robert P. "Fuzzy " Vandivier ( born December 26, 1903 in Franklin, Indiana; † 30 July 1983) was an American professional basketball player. He is considered one of the best high school player of all time and was inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame basketball in 1975. Vandivier was 1.83 m tall and played on the position of small forward.

Vandivier was the first superstar of the then fledgling sport of basketball. With the team of the local Franklin High School, he won three times the national championship of Indiana from 1920 to 1922. The team was called the " Franklin Wonder Five", and is still regarded as the best in basketball history Indiana. During the same period he was called three times in the All- State team from Indiana, then the first player ever. Hall -of- Fame coach John Wooden thought he was the best high school basketball player in history, comparable only with LeBron James.

From 1922 to 1926 played Vandivier at Franklin College. After that, he spent 18 years successfully coach his old high school. A career as a professional player was denied him because leagues like the NBA emerged only decades later.
