Fyodor Zakharov

Fyodor Sacharowitsch Sakharov (Russian Фёдор Захарович Захаров, Ukrainian Федир Захарович Захаров; born September 5, 1919 in Alexandrovskoe, Smolensk province, † September 29, 1997 in Yalta in the Crimea ) was a Russian- Ukrainian painter. Sakharov is considered one of the most important representatives of the Russian and Ukrainian classical landscape painting and the realist. He was since 1978 winner of the title of National Artist of Ukraine since 1987 and winner of the Taras Shevchenko Prize, the highest award in the field of literature and art of Ukraine.

Life

Sakharov was born on September 5, 1919 in Alexandrovskoe, a small village in today's Smolensk Oblast in Russia. He came from a farming family. In 1935 he received a scholarship to the Moscow Kalinin Art Academy. He graduated in 1941 with honors. Due to health problems Sakharov was not drafted for military service. In 1943, Sakharov continued his artistic education at the Surikov Academy of Fine Arts in Moscow. Sakharov was an elite student of Aristarchus W. Lentulov, one of the best known representatives of the Russian avant-garde in the twenties, is formed.

1950 Sakharov began his independent way as an artist in the era of totalitarian Soviet art that was entirely subordinated to the interests of the party. However, Sakharov never had the so-called thematic commissions created, praise the the " happy life of the Soviet people ". The young painter was not the system customized way, which would have secured him rapid recognition and material advantages. The Art of Sakharov was inspired by the great achievements of the Russian and Ukrainian classical landscape painting late 19th and early 20th century, which was characterized by poeticization nature.

The landscapes and still lifes Sakharov were well received by the viewers. His paintings have been exhibited in numerous galleries and national museums in Kiev, Moscow and Saint Petersburg. In 1978 he was awarded the title of National Artist of Ukraine and in 1987 with the Taras Shevchenko Prize, the highest award in the field of literature and art of Ukraine, excellent. The images Sakharov are appreciated by collectors in Russia, Ukraine as well as in the salons of Western Europe.

Two provinces went to the heart of the painter especially: the Crimea, where he lived in Yalta, and the small Ukrainian Sednev in Chernihiv, where he traveled frequently to paint. In the estate of landowner Lysogub in Sednev came in the forties of the 19th century often Taras Shevchenko, the great Ukrainian poet and painter.
