G Data

The G Data Software AG is a German software house focusing on IT security solutions. The company was founded in 1985 and is headquartered in Bochum. G Data is one of the largest manufacturers of security solutions in the IT sector in Germany.

Products

The end-user products support in the current version of 2014, the Windows operating systems XP (with Service Pack 2, 32- bit ) and Vista, 7, and 8 each in the 32 - and 64- bit version. For large networks and corporate clients there are special versions, which can be centrally managed.

Since the beginning of May 2011, the anti-virus program Mobile Security is available for the Android operating system. Since June 2012, is the successor to G Data Mobile Security 2 for android on the market that contains malicious code protection, data protection components.

Special

A feature of G Data Antivirus is the so-called " double scan " engine which (up to version 2013!: Avast and BitDefender ) by means of two independent virus scanning engines to achieve high virus detection. As of version 2014, the Avast engine is replaced by the CloseGap engine that developed G Data itself.

The products contain a OutbreakShield to increase the virus protection regardless of signature updates, and a whitelisting feature for files trustworthy manufacturer and checksum ( " fingerprinting " ) of approved files to speed up virus scans.

Since 2012, the manufacturer offers with Bank Guard technology to secure online banking, which is intended to protect independent of signatures in real time against known and unknown banking Trojans.

G Data is committed to the social sector. Per product sold, the company donates since 2008 1 € to Plan International.
