Public perception

Demi Moore is the role of G.I. Jane was awarded the Golden Raspberry for worst actress. The criticism in the United States was overwhelmingly positive. Rolling Stone writes:

"Down in the mud with the guys, Moore finds the heart of her character and a career beyond vanity and hype. ( With the guys in the dirt Moore reached the core of her movie character and a career jeseits of vanity and hype. ) "

In Germany, the criticism was mostly negative. It was a " pseudo- feminist, reactionary, uptight, homophobic, sadistic, unintentionally funny and plain silly sadomasochistic fantasy ," or of a " promotional clip for the Pentagon " ( Cinema 03/ 1998).

Training for the Seal will be shown in the film in a partly glorified and particularly exaggerated way that does not correspond to reality. It is also not possible today for a woman to participate in the training or to become a Seal.
