Gabriel Asaad

Gabriel Asaad ( Syro -Aramaic ܓ ܒ ܪ ܐ ܝ ܠ ܐ ܣ ܥ ܕ, born March 18, 1907 in Midyat, Mardin, † July 6, 1997 in Stockholm) was an Assyrian composer and musician. He was also an Assyrian nationalist.

Among the classic songs of Gabriel Asaad are Ho Donho Schemscho ( ܗ ܐ ܕ ܢ ܚ ܐ ܫ ܡ ܫ ܐ " The sun is shining " ), Motho Rhimto ( ܡ ܬ ܐ ܪ ܚ ܝ ܡ ܬ ܐ "Beloved Country " ) and Moth Beth Nahrin ( ܡ ܬ ܝ ܒ ܝ ܬ ܢ ܗ ܪ ܝ ܢ " Mesopotamia, my nation "). Gabriel Asaad one of the pioneers of the Assyrian music and composed the first song in Syriac from the modern era: Othuroye Ho Mtoth Elfan l - Metba ' (1926, ܐ ܬ ܘ ܪ ܝ ܶ ܐ ܗ ܐ ܡ ܛ ܬ ܐ ܠ ܦ ܢ ܠ ܡ ܛ ܒ ܥ " Assyrians, our ship is on its way to sinking" ).
