Gabriel Melkam

Chinwuza Melkam Gabriel ( born March 13, 1980 in Lagos) is a Nigerian football player.

Career

Melkam began playing football in his hometown at Stationary Stores FC Lagos. Later he joined Ilorin Kwara United before moving to Germany in 1998. By 2001, the defender played three years for the SG Wattenscheid 09 in the second Bundesliga and the Regional. In 2001 he moved back to the second division for the Karlsruher SC, for the Nigerian 56 games completed in two years and scored four goals.

In the summer of 2003 Melkam hired in the Bundesliga at Hansa Rostock. Once he even came to the Baltic Sea in the first season to 18 missions, he played the following season due to a cartilage injury in his right knee only once. After the descent of FC Hansa the defender went to Sportfreunde Siegen. Here he played regularly again, but rose from the Table of the 2.

Melkam then moved up in the Chinese Super League to Xiamen lanshi. But even with his new club, he was relegated as bottom club in 2007, but was then taken off the reigning champions Changchun Yatai under contract. After two seasons in Changchun, he moved in 2010 within the League to Guangzhou Evergrande.

With the Nigerian junior national team Melkam took in 1999 at the Junior World Cup in part. At the tournament in the home, he reached the quarter-finals with the team.

Gabriel Melkams brother Innocent occasionally plays with him at KSC.
