Gad Shimron

Gad Shimron ( גד שימרון; born 1950 in Tel Aviv) is an Israeli journalist and author.

Life and work

Shimron was born in 1950 in Tel Aviv. He studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem history and Asian Studies. In the 1970s and 1980s Shimron was a member of various operational units of the Mossad for 10 years.

In the 1990s, Shimron was a European correspondent for the Israeli newspaper Ma'ariv, worked as a journalist in the newsroom of the Kol Israel ( " The Voice of Israel " ), the public broadcasting institution of Israel, and presented the morning show on Israeli TV station Haarutz Ha - Rishon ( "Channel 1" ). For Ma'ariv he worked until his dismissal in 2008.

In addition, Shimron published seven, partly fictional books on intelligence, security, and the history of the Crusades in Hebrew, English, French and German language. He is regarded as a critic of the Israeli army.
