Gaëtan de Rochebouët

Gaëtan de Grimaudet de Rochebouët ( born March 16, 1813 in Angers, † February 23, 1899 in Paris) was a French general and politician.

After graduating from the École Polytechnique in 1831 he became an officer and was promoted to General in battles during the Second Empire and the German -French war in part. He later served under the President of the Third French Republic, Marshal Patrice de Mac -Mahon.

In November 1877 he formed as a successor of the Duke of Broglie a transitional cabinet. However, the opposition saw in the new prime minister, a docile instrument of the president and refused to cooperate with Rochebouret. The threat of rejection of the budget meant that MacMahon dismissed in December 1877 Prime Minister again and the former Prime Minister Jules Dufaure summoned.
