Gag Island

Gag is a small island in the Halmaherasee. It belongs to the Raja Ampat Islands in West New Guinea, the Indonesian part of New Guinea.

On the island, precisely in the village of Gambier Bay, live about 450 people. The town was founded in the early 1960s, as has been mined on the island of nickel. The nickel mining, which was also BHP Billiton was involved, was set in 1999 when a new Indonesian law for the protection of forests came into effect on Gag.
