Gaius Ummidius Durmius Quadratus

Gaius Ummidius Durmius Quadratus was a Roman senator of the 1st century AD

He was the first member of originating from Casinum in the south of Latium family of Ummidii which passed in the Senate. In 18 he was praetor, then proconsul of Cyprus ( between about 22 and 31) and legate of the province of Lusitania (about 31-39 ). It was not until more than twenty years after the praetorship and thus he came very late as homo novus for Suffektkonsulat and was afterwards in the time of Claudius governor of Illyricum and from 50/51 from Syria, where he about 59/60 died. Presumably, he was buried in Casinum, where he and his daughter Ummidia Quadratilla conducted several extensive construction.

Gaius Ummidius Durmius Quadratus was a member of the Sacred College of Quindecimviri Sacris Faciundis. His great-grandson was Gaius Ummidius Quadratus ( Suffektkonsul 118).
