Gakuryū Ishii

Sogo Ishii (Japanese石井 聪 亘, Ishii Sogo, born January 15, 1957 in Fukuoka Prefecture ) is a Japanese film director. In the opening and closing credits, he is sometimes listed as Sohgo Ishii or Toshihiro Ishii.

In 1986, he turned with the Einstürzende Neubauten, the short film ½ man. Typical stylistic Ishii's camera guides are à la Shinya Tsukamoto (very experimental hectic camera work and quick cuts ).

Through his great interest in music, Ishii devoted not only the feature film art, but has turned video clips already for many punk rock bands.
