Galería de Arte Mexicano

The Galería de Arte Mexicano (GAM; span for Gallery of Mexican Art) was founded on March 7, 1935 in Mexico City from Carolina and Inés Amor and was the first modern art gallery in the city.

The aim of the institution is to establish local artists and youth development. The Galería de Arte Mexicano has the most comprehensive collection of modern, Mexican and contemporary art. The gallery building was the first building of the Mexican architect Casillas de Alba. 1940, the International Surrealism Exhibition took place here. Overall, the gallery organized so far over 900 events, including exhibitions for Diego Rivera, Fernando Leal Audirac, José Clemente Orozco, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Miguel Covarrubias, Rufino Tamayo, Frida Kahlo, Agustín Lazo and other famous artists.
