Galerina

Lined Häubling ( Galerina paludosa )

The Häublinge ( Galerina ) is a fungal genus in the family Träuschlingsverwandten.

The type species is the variable Moss Häubling ( Galerina vittiformis ).

Features

Macroscopic characteristics

The fruiting bodies are small to medium in size and colored ocher, yellow or russet. The hat is membranous - dünnfleischig and usually conical - campanulate shaped. More rarely it is formed hemispherically curved to be convex. In addition, the hat is hygrophanous, and its edge often to the middle translucent striped ribbed up.

The lamellae are grown wide, attached to short decurrent. The cylindrical stem is fibrous or frosted and can also fibrous veil or a membranous ring possess. The spore powder is colored yellow to reddish brown.

Microscopic characteristics

The hat skin consists of more or less radially disposed lying hyphae and does not rounded elements. The lamellae formed regularly to subregulär. The cheilocystidia are always pleurocystidia often present; sometimes can also be found Kaulozystiden.

The spores are quite large and almond-shaped ellipsoid shape. The surface is smooth to feinwarzig and often has a well recognizable Plage area. The spores do not have a germ pore, are cyanophil and dextrinoid. Some species have a callus or a supernatant spore wall ( kalyptrat ).

Species delimitation

Stockschwämmchen ( Kuehneromyces ) have smooth spores with germ pore, and no plague area. Braunhäublinge ( Phaeogalera ) has no pleurocystidia, have tobacco- brown spore powder and spores with germ pore not dextrinoide.

Species

Worldwide are given for the genus about 100 species. From Central Europe more than 50 kinds of Häublinge are known.

Ecology

Most species live as Saprobiont in the soil. Many representatives also live on living mosses. They may enter into a cohabitation with them. Many species feed on wood and plant debris. Häublinge can be in forests, encounter on meadows, moors and heaths.

Importance

For dining purposes Galerina is usually not productive. Regarding toxicity higher than most species have no information. Some species are highly poisonous. According to a study Galerina sulcipes is more toxic than the green amanita (Amanita phalloides ).
