The Gallows Hill in the city of Heilbronn with streamers in that of the vineyard is a part of its Südkuppe about 312 m above sea level. NHN high elevation located in the Baden -Württemberg Heilbronn mountains. In this gallows once stood Heilbronner gallows. In the transition region to the northern tip (about 301.7 m; 49.1473888888899.25875 ⊙ ) at the Won guarantees on which the transmitter is located vineyard, Weinberger tunnel runs.
Geography
Location
The Gallows Hill is located in the Heilbronner Bergen, a northwestern spur of the Löwenstein Mountains, and is located within its Südkuppe about 3.8 km east of the city of Heilbronn. While his dortiger summit is to the east of the urban area of Heilbronn ( county ), are its northern and eastern flanks the west of the urban area of the vineyard ( the district of Heilbronn ). To the west of Gallows Hill falls in the city of Heilbronn from the valley of the Pfühlbachs and east into that of Weinberger city Seebach, is there also called Saubach. About 1.5 km from the Südkuppe is the northern tip and 2.5 km (each crow flies) south of the mountain behind ( 364.8 m). The high elevations of the mountain is forested, and its flanks are located especially in the West, but also partly in the east vineyards.
The Gallows is part of a narrow reed sandstone ridge of the Stuttgart Formation, the 2.3 km (airline ) northeast of the city center runs with the Wartberg as Heilbronner local mountain and in the beginning of the north, extending later a north-westerly direction from the former hunting lodge quarry ago. From Wartberg conducts Weinberger saddle on (about 235 m) with dortiger Federal Highway 39 ( Hallerstraße - Öhringer road ) towards the southeast to the northern tip of the Galgenberg. The Gallows heard in the physiographic feature unit group Swabian Keuper- Lias - country (No. 10), in the main unit Swabian- Franconian Forest (108) and in the subunit Löwenstein Mountains ( 108.1 ) for natural space Heilbronner mountains ( 108.13 ), with its landscape after northeast and east in the natural environment Weinberger valley ( 108.12 ) and westward to the adjacent main unit group Neckar and Taubergäuplatten (12) in the main unit Neckarbecken (123) and in the subunit Heilbronner pelvis ( 123.6 ) in the natural environment Heilbronner and Fleiner mussel ( 123.61 ) drops.
Reserves
Slightly south-west of Gallows Hill Summit Nature Reserve reeds quarry is situated on the hunter, house with environment ( CDDA-Nr. 82520; 1972; 29 ha). Lie On the mountain parts of the Protected Landscape Area Gallows Pig Mountain Staufenberg ( CDDA-Nr. 320949; reported in 1983; 12.26 km ² ) and the Fauna- Flora-Habitat area Löwenstein mountains and Heilbronner ( FFH-Nr. 7021-341; 54.27 km ²).
History
On the northern tip of the Galgenberg are in Won guarantees two probably Bronze Age grave mound.
Like many other gallows was also the Heilbronner mountain of that name once the most visible high court of justice in the city. Here stood until 1811 a three-legged gallows, who was believed to be very large; its foundation walls have a thickness of 1.2 m and forming a triangle with an inner width of 7.5 m.
In 1893 were found during excavations in a vineyard just before the place of execution on a length of 30 m numerous horse skull. 1901 brought further excavations ten skeletons of man who hanged himself to the fore.
Weinberger tunnel
Located below a 1.2 km (airline ) NNW of Gallows Hill Summit at the Kerner rest Forcella ( 291.3 m), which leads to the northern summit in 1862, who opened and 891.3 m long Weinberger tunnel ( Schnarrenberg tunnel ) runs the railway line Heilbronn- Crailsheim.
Transmitter vineyard
About 250 m east of the northern tip summit stands on Weinberger area at about 295 m height of 70 m high concrete tower of the station vineyard, a transmitting device of the SWR (SWR ).
