Galicia national football team

The Galician football team is the football team of the autonomous region of Galicia, located in northwestern Spain. It is controlled by the Football Federation of Galicia, the " Federación Galega de Fútbol ".

Since officially Galicia is a Spanish province, the selection team is not recognized by UEFA. It therefore takes no international competitive games but only played friendly matches. Among the greatest achievements included a 3-2 victory over the national team of Uruguay in 2005. This game was the first game of the Galician team since the 1930s.

The most prominent member of the Galician national team is Michel Salgado from Real Madrid. Other well-known Galician National players are Ignacio " Nacho " Novo of Rangers and Ricardo Cabanas from 1 FC Cologne. However, participation in Galician games does not rule out that a player may compete for another national team, as well as cabanas for Switzerland does.
