Galinakopf

The Galinakopf is a 2198 meter high mountain in the Rätikon, a mountain range of the Western Central Alps. He is exactly on the border between Austria, the province of Vorarlberg and Liechtenstein, eastern part of the municipality Balzers ( Valorschbach ). Its southern flank is covered up to the summit cross with grass, the other sides consist of partly steep rock walls. The Galinakopf sends four distinctive ridges to the north, east, south and southwest. The jagged north ridge called Galinagrat, and is not to be confused with the running first east and then north-east -covered meadows Galinagrätle. The mountain has from its surroundings by its height a large geographical dominance, he is therefore a popular vantage point that is easy to walk on the southern flank.

Environment

The Galinakopf is five and a half kilometers in a straight line north of the Liechtenstein Alpine resort of Malbun in Malbun. The Vorarlberg Nenzing is good seven and a half kilometers to the northeast. The Mountain Falls to the west from the Wurmtal, east to Galinaalpe and southwest to the valley of the Valorschbachs. The neighboring mountains are much lower, lie in the north of the Galinagrats, separated by the Ziegerberg saddle at 1884 meters, the chief heads (up to 2066 m). Ways

The normal route to the head through the southern flank on a light trail, which takes its starting point at the inn Mattajoch on the Gampalpe (1562 m). The walk takes about two hours after the literature. A slight ascent is also possible from the south Malbun. The Galinagrat however, also offers rock climbing.
