Galitzine

The house Galitzine (Cyrillic: Голицын, also Galizyn, Golitsyn, Gallitzin ) is a Russian princely family of Lithuanian descent, whose ancestor in the male line Grand Duke Gediminas was, who was also the progenitor of the Jagiellonian. One of his descendants, Ivan Bulgak should have received from the thick leather gloves ( golitza ), which he wore over the woolen gloves, nicknamed Golitsyn (pronounced Galizyn ) and inherited by his descendants.
