Gallhammer

Gallhammer is a Japanese extreme metal band, the influences of Black Metal, Doom Metal and Crustcore has. The band was founded in Tokyo in 2003. All three members are female, which is a rarity in this genre, and the band probably brought more attention than the music itself

History

Gallhammer was founded because Vivian Slaughter ( real name: Eri Isaka ) wanted to create a band that plays music in the mood of the Swiss band Hellhammer. Slaughter had previously also been a digital hardcore band called Vivian Christ, in which she played the saxophone, drum machine programmed and sang. The other members, Risa Reaper, and Mika Penetrator, the band joined in the founding year 2003. Initially, none of the women could play their instruments, since they are all in front of it were the singers or had only learned other instruments.

Their first recording, a limited edition of 30 pieces demo tape was distributed at their first gig at Koiwa Death Fest Vol 2 in Japan in March 2003. In July of the same year, the first self-titled demo album was released. In April of the following year, the band released a second demo album, entitled Endless Nauseous Days. In November 2004, then her debut album, Gloomy Lights appeared in Hello From The Gutter Records.

The band signed early 2006 a contract with Peaceville Records, after having been the label of Nocturno Culto of Darkthrone recommended. The Dawn of ... has been released. It contained a CD demo and sample material and a DVD recording of a performance in Okayama and five concerts in Tokyo.

Gallhammer released their second album, Ill Innocence, in September 2007 on Peaceville Records, followed by a European tour. In March 2008, they organized a second. They also performed at the Inferno Metal Festival Norway in June. 2009 founded Vivan Slaughter with her fiance Maniac ( ex- Mayhem, Skitliv ) and the guitarist Ingvar Magnusson Skitliv the project longing for the Maniac later Andrew Liles ( Nurse With Wound, Current 93 ) could win.

Influences

In an interview with Contraband Candy Vivian Slaughter Hellhammer, Celtic Frost called, Amebix and Burzum as the main influences of the band. Slaughter is also a passionate Judas -Priest fan and appreciates Corrupted. Although the group processed Crust and Anarcho -punk, they do not identify with a particular political direction. Slaughter says she got the idea to make music, after Napalm Death and Painkiller heard at concerts. Other influences include Joy Division, Antisect, Carcass, Cathedral, Morbid Angel and Scorn. Risa Reaper is a fan of old-school techno, Kraftwerk, Krautrock and Ljubljana. The group is also inspired by Japanoise and has worked with Incapacitants.
