Galveias is a comune ( Freguesia ) at the Portuguese circuit ( concelho ) of Ponte de Sor. 1062 inhabitants live in it (as at 30 June 2011).
History
The site was probably founded in 1342 by Afonso free Lourenço, a Grand Master of the Equestrian Order of Avis. 1512 Galveias received first town charter by King D. Manuel I, and in 1538 brought King D. João III. the place to the small town ( Vila ). In the course of administrative reform by the Liberal Revolution in 1822 and 1834 following Miguelistenkrieg the circle Galveias was dissolved and Ponte de Sor affiliated.
Economy
The community is dominated by agriculture. Nationally known are the locally produced olive oils and wines. Also for its oranges and his poultry, the community is known. Regional is also opened in 2007 municipal outdoor swimming facility Oásis Parque a tourist attraction.

The writer José Luís Peixoto was born here in 1974.
