Gamaliel

Gamaliel Rabban Gamaliel I., or the Elder ( Patriarch approx 9-50 ) ( רבן גמליאל הזקן ) was a Jewish patriarch, and the most important figure of Rabbinic Judaism in the mid- first century AD. He was a grandson of Hillel, Tannait, father of Simeon ben Gamaliel, a Pharisee rabbi, prince of the Sanhedrin and together with his son the most important representative of the Hillel School. The Sayings of the Fathers deliver both statements of Gamaliel and his son Simeon or Simon. From the first chapter ( I, 16):
