Gamèti

Gameti ( until August 4, 2005: Rae Lakes ), officially the Tlicho Community Government of Gameti is a municipality in the North Slave Region of the Northwest Territories in Canada.

Name

According to the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories The name means ( Parliament of the Northwest Territories ) "Game 's place," and refers to the surname of the first tribal elders, who settled here on the half way of Great Slave Lake and Great Bear Lake.

The Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre is the importance of having rabbit lake. 'Game ' means ' rabbit ', and ' tì ' water or lake.

Gameti has, according to Canadian census of 2006 283 inhabitants, as First Nations are registered all. Local languages ​​are Tlicho and English.

Community

The municipality has an airfield. It has no connection to the all-weather road network. In winter, there is sometimes an ice road. There is a daycare and Jean WeTrade school which applies to the ninth school year. There is also a post office, an ambulance and the Rae Lakes store.

Gameti is one of four Tli Cho communities which form the Tlicho Government.
