Garankedey

Garankédey (also: Garankadèye ) is a rural municipality in the department of Dosso in Niger.

Geography

Garankédey lies in the large landscape Sudan. The neighboring municipalities are Koygolo the northwest, Sokorbé in the northeast, mokko in the east, in the southeast Dosso, Gollé in the south and Kiota in the southwest. The municipality is divided into 23 administrative villages, 14 traditional villages, hamlets and four 21 stock. The main town of the country church is the administrative village Garankédey.

History

The rural community Garankédey was founded in 2002 at a nationwide administrative reform a part of the canton Dosso forth. 2009 tried flooding in the administrative village Gonda Tarey property damage, of which 400 people were directly affected.

Population

At the 2001 census Garankédey had 24,871 inhabitants. For the year 2010 33.270 inhabitants were calculated. The majority provide Zarma, and there are a minority of Fulbe.

Economy and infrastructure

Garankédey is located in a zone is operated in the rain-fed agriculture. In the municipality there are two middle schools that are located in the administrative villages Garankédey and Deytégui Attili, and 20 elementary schools. A 45 km long slope connects Deytégui Attili with the regional capital Dosso. The sandy roads within the rural community are not very practical in the rainy season.
