Garðar Svavarsson

Gardar Svavarsson was a Swede of the 9th century, the large proportion of the discovery of Iceland had.

Gardar Svavarsson was not the first navigator who sighted the island (see history of Iceland ), but the first 875 to systematically searched the country and explored. He noted that there is a large island and wintered in northern Iceland in Húsavík, where he founded a settlement. The island he named Garðarsholmur which in German means something like " Gardars island ".
