Garbicz

Garbicz ( German Görbitsch ) is a Polish village in the municipality Torzym ( Sternberg ), Lubusz Voivodship, near Rzepin ( Reppen ). It belongs to the powiat Sulęciński, and has about 300 inhabitants.

Geography

The village is situated in the northwest of Wojeiwodschaft Lebus in the extensive forests of Reppener Heide ( Puszcza Rzepinska ) on a chain of lakes. Immediately to the village limits of the ' Crooked Lake ' and the ' Great Lake ' ( see map). Garbicz has the outworks Charlotte field ( Szarlatka ) (founded in 1829), and Augustenhof ( Krzywnia ).

History

Was first mentioned in documents Görbitsch 1375th landowners were the families of Winning ( 15-16. Century) of Nauendorf and Neuendorf ( 1573), by Buntsch from Lamott (late 18th century), von Winterfeld (from 1802) from Hollwede (from 1807), Gaudy ( until 1825 ) and von Selchow ( 1830 ) .. middle of the 19th century the estate was bought Görbitsch together with mud village ( Maczków ) of the family of Risselmann, in which up in 1945 remained. Last owner was Ellhard of Risselmann.

The Görbitscher branch of the family of Risselmann died out during World War II, since all male members were at the front. From 1944, the castle was provided as an alternative accommodation for Reich Minister Dr. Frank.

The village belonged until 1945 to the eastern Brandenburg district Weststernberg, and in 1939 had 361 inhabitants. The basic acts of Görbitsch 1945 could be brought from the last Protestant pastor Gerhard Witt in safety before the close sent the Red Army and the consistory of the Berlin- Brandenburg State Church were handed over after the war. The Gutsarchiv ( comprising the years 1770-1870 ) is currently in the State Archives Landsberg.

Structures

  • In the castle there is a unadorned colonial mansion in the neoclassical style, consisting of a main building, a side wing and orangery, the latter both buildings are buildings of the late 19th century. The castle was built around 2000 not listed status renovated and transformed into a hotel. By Attachments ( " portico ", swimming pool ) and almost complete gutting the interior corresponds to only the facade ( partially ) the original state. The Castle Hotel has been decorated in a style pseudohistorisierenden. Also the manor park was changed or bulldozed as part of the conversion work.
  • The brick church dates from the mid-19th century. It was built on the site of an earlier building destroyed by fire, as is evident from the inscription of a walled-in behind the altar plaque. The church is largely preserved original. The destroyed in WW2 Turmbekrönung was reconstructed around 2000. The, also from the 19th century organ is preserved in large parts because of the damage to the pipe work currently but not playable. Since 23 May 2008, the bells are ringing silence after more than 60 years.
