García Sánchez II of Pamplona

García Sánchez, called the Shakers (c. 964, † 1000) was García II Count of Aragon and King of Navarre.

He was the son of Sancho II and Urraca Fernández, daughter of Count Fernán González of Castile. When his father died, he followed this 994 on the throne.

Unlike his father García II refused the Caliphate of Córdoba to pay tribute, why Navarre became the target of Moorish retaliatory attacks.

He married Jimena Fernández, daughter of Count Fernando Cea and Elvira Díaz. With her he had four children:

  • Sancho III. (* 990/92, † 1035 ), 1000-1035 King of Navarre, Count of Aragon
  • Urraca ( † after 1031 ), ∞ Alfonso V, King of León and Galicia
  • Elvira
  • García

When he died in the spring of 1000, followed in his underage son Sancho on the throne.
