Gardens of the Night

Gardens of the Night is an American film drama from the year 2008. Directed by Damian Harris, who also wrote the screenplay.

Action

The 17 -year-old Leslie Seeks accommodation in a home in San Diego. In flashbacks of her childhood is shown. She is kidnapped as a seven year-old girl by two men, drugged and forced into prostitution. In captivity she meets Donnie peers.

Leslie is merged with the family.

Reviews

The editors of www.kino - zeit.de described the film as " violent " and as an " antithesis" to " very shrill and very excited competition entry Juliet" by Erick Zonca.

Awards

The film participated in the International Film Festival in Berlin in 2008 as part contest entry, so Damian Harris was nominated for the Golden Bear. The Golden Bear went to the Brazilian film Tropa de Elite.

Background

The film was shot in Los Angeles and San Diego. Its world premiere took place at the International Film Festival Berlin 2008 on 9 February 2008.
