Garfield - fat in the Life ( Original Title: Garfield Gets Real) is an American comedy film directed by Mark AZ Dippé from the year 2007 with the cartoon cat Garfield as the main character. The film is an indirect sequel to Garfield 2 from the year 2006. The film is a direct-to- DVD production and appeared on 1 October 2007 in the U.S. on DVD and in Germany on March 3, 2008.

Action

Bored with the everyday life of a comic book heroes Garfield leaves the colorful pages and enters the "real" world. While he experienced the quiet life of a pet, he learns at the same time the inconvenience of the "real " life know. He eventually learns that his Garfield comic is Discontinued, if he does not return in the pages of comic books. Since he also misses his comic friends, he devises a plan to return to the comic world.

Criticism

The film received mostly negative assessments and was particularly criticized by fans of the comic series. The film adaptation lacked wit and creativity.
