Garnet Mimms

Garnet Mimms & The Enchanters were an American soul band that has been especially known for its summer hit of 1963 ( " Cry Baby ").

Zola Pernell had previously sung in Europe in the Paul Roberts Choir, Sam Bell was a songwriter and Charles Boyer worked in a gospel choir before the three beginning of the 1960s in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a soul trio formed. Later still came the piano player Garnet Mimms (* November 26, 1933 as Garrett Mimms in Ashland, West Virginia) to do so. As a quartet, they received a recording contract in 1963. Their first record, " Cry Baby" was an instant hit and peaked at # 4 in the U.S. charts.

This was followed by a number of boards such as "Baby Do not You Weep", "For Your Precious Love" and " One Girl", but did not reach a high chart positions more.

Garnet Mimms had later minor successes as a soloist ( "I'll Take Good Care For You", 1965, and " What It Is ", 1977).
