Garnier

Garnier is a brand for cosmetic products of the French L' Oreal Group. They focus includes products for skin care and for hair care. Garnier is today by L' Oréal Paris, the second most popular brand of L' Oréal.

Garnier was founded in 1904 by Alfred Amour Garnier. This was the end of the 19th century worked as a hairdresser and perfumer and invented in the early 20th century, a hair care lotion which he patented under the name Garnier on June 2, 1904. 1909 Garnier sold his company.

End of the First World War Garnier was grown from a manually producing a small business to institute Garnier and changed its name in 1929 under the name of Laboratoires Garnier. The company was headed at that time by Bernard Guilpin, a chemist, and Gaston Roussel, a physician and founder of the pharmaceutical laboratories Roussel Uclaf (now part of sanofi -aventis ).

The product range has been expanded more and more over the years. In the early 1960s launched the first hair dye Garnier for his own use. 1965 Garnier was acquired by the direct competitor L'Oréal and expanded.

The only production site for Garnier in Germany is located in Karlsruhe.
