Gary Dornhoefer

Gary Dornhoefer ( born February 2, 1943 in Kitchener, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played in his playing days from 1961 to 1978 among others for the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League.

Career

Gary Dornhoefer began his career as a hockey player with the Niagara Falls Flyers, for to 1963 he was active from 1961 in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey Association. Then the winger of 1963 stood until 1967 for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League contract, but which he could never prevail permanently located. Instead, he came mostly during this period in the Minor Leagues for use. There he played for the Minneapolis Bruins from the Central Professional Hockey League, the San Francisco Seals of the Western Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. The Hershey Bears he finally even spent the entire season 1966/67, in the AHL. In the NHL Expansion Draft 1967, the Canadian was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers. The newly-established franchise he belonged in the following eleven years to the guide players and has been in the years 1973 and 1977, respectively invited to the NHL All-Star Game to participate. Following the season 1977/78 he finished his career at the age of 35 years with the Flyers.

Between 1978 and 1986 Dornhoefer worked as a commentator for Hockey Night in Canada. He also commented regularly Games of the Philadelphia Flyers.
