Gary Lewis & the Playboys

Gary Lewis & the Playboys was an American pop band of the 1960s.

History

Gary, the son of Jerry Lewis, got to his fourteenth birthday drums. Playing liked it so much that he decided to start a band. He called it The Playboys and was so far that he applied for the job in 1964 with her a house band at Disneyland after a few years. The Playboys got the job, then was followed by appearances in the TV show Shindig and that in turn led to a recording contract.

Direct their first single This Diamond Ring was a hit and million-seller. The song had Al Kooper composed.

By 1968 the band was regularly represented in the American charts. Here, the band had actually disbanded in 1966 when Gary had the military for two years. But the record company still had plenty of tracks recorded the group on hand to bridge this.

On his return in 1968 Gary Lewis tried to put the Playboys back on their feet. But now the group had little success and broke up soon on final. Most members joined other bands or have a studio musician. Only Carl Radle reached a level of fame as a player with Eric Clapton and Joe Cocker.

Gary Lewis still occasionally occurs with various formations, whose name component is each Playboys, in the American Midwest on.
