Gary Medel
Gary Alexis Medel Soto ( born August 3, 1987 in Santiago) is a Chilean footballer who plays for Cardiff City since 2013.
Career
Association
Gary Medel comes from the youth of CD Universidad Católica, where he made his professional debut in 2005. He scored his first two goals two years later on July 28, 2007 compared to the eternal rival CF Universidad de Chile. He sealed the win with his two goals and shot himself with it in the hearts of fans. However, some incidents have complained his career. He was locked after he had spat at an opponent, came to a serious car accident, the unfortunate death of a young woman who fell during a celebration of his balcony and several other incidents.
In 2008 he was elected to Chile Footballer of the Year ahead of Lucas Barrios. This, but also by his good performances he was able to get a regular place in the national team.
On 20 July 2009, his club reached an agreement with the Argentine club Boca Juniors on a loan of Medel. Just three days later, he was officially presented at the Juniors. On 25 March 2010, he scored both goals in the 2-0 victory over the rival CA River Plate. However, Medel was sent off later.
During the transfer window in winter 2010/11 he moved to Spanish club Sevilla FC.
National
Medel took in 2007 with the Chilean U -20 team at the Campeonato Sudamericano Sub-20 in Paraguay and arrived with his team while the fourth place, the person entitled to participate in the Junior World Cup 2007 in Canada. There he played alongside players such as Arturo Vidal and Mauricio Isla Alexis Sánchez. After the two 3-0 victories in the group stage against the hosts Canada and Congo, they reached the knockout stages with a 0-0 draw against Austria. There, the team was able to turn off the favorites Portugal 1-0 and won the next round against Nigeria after extra time 4-0. On 19 April 2007 he completed his senior international debut in the 0-0 draw against Argentina. In May 2008, he participated with U-23 National Team at the Toulon Tournament. After a 5-3 victory over France and the respective 2-0 victories over the Netherlands and Japan, could prevail 2-1 against Ivory Coast in the semi-finals. The finals they lost to Italy 0-1.
