Gaspare Aselli

Gaspare Aselli, also Asellio (* around 1581 in Cremona, † April 14, 1626 in Milan ) was an Italian surgeon and anatomist.

Aselli practiced after studying at the University of Pavia as a surgeon in Milan. From 1612 to 1620 he held the position of conducting field surgeons of the Spanish army in Italy. He discovered in 1622 by vivisection on dogs, more by chance he referred to as " milk vessels " lymph vessels of the intestine. He was able to confirm his observation through systematic studies.
