Gauliga Mitte

The Gauliga center was one of 16 top football leagues, which were founded after the Nazi seizure of power in Germany in 1933. In it, the mid- German participants was determined in the final round of the German Cup. The Gauliga center mainly included the present territory of the federal states of Saxony -Anhalt and Thuringia as well as small parts of northern Saxony and Brandenburg Southwest.

History

The Gauliga center launched in 1933 in her opening season with 10 teams and kept that strength, with the exception of temporary withdrawal from the SV 08 Steinach and 1 FC Lauscha, to 1944 constant at. On sports league was determined clearly in the period of its existence from the SV Dessau 05 and 1 SV Jena, which imports a total of ten championships. In the related participations in the German Championships, the mid - representatives gained no success.

In the season 1944/45, the Gauliga center was only played regionally. The league was divided into the groups Halle, Erfurt, Dessau -Zerbst, Bernburg - Köthen and Magdeburg- Beautiful Beck. The game mode, however, came through the turmoil of war after a few game days to a halt.
