Gavriel Lipkind

Gavriel Lipkind (* August 5, 1977 in Tel Aviv) is an Israeli cellist.

Life

Lipkind was born as a child of Russian emigrants in Tel Aviv. He began playing the cello at six years and studied at the Tel Aviv S. Rubin Academy, the Academy of Music in Frankfurt / Main and the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.

He has worked with renowned orchestras such as the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Munich Philharmonic and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, as well as well known musicians such as Yehudi Menuhin, Pinchas Zukerman and Gidon Kremer.

Previously released recordings with him are the suites for solo cello by Johann Sebastian Bach and Miniatures & Folklore (various composers ). He is also co-founder of the Lipkind Quartet.

Lipkind successfully participated in several music competitions, including he won the Newcomer Award at the 5th International Rostropovich Cello Competition in Paris and a 4th place at the ARD Music Competition.

Lipkind plays a unique Italian cello, which is attributed Aloysius Michael Garani (Bologna) and was made ​​1670-1680. It became known as " Zihrhonheimer " cello.

After studying in Frankfurt, he lived a long time in Bad Homburg and earned in Kronberg im Taunus in 2000, a third prize in the Pablo Casals competition. After stops in Miami, Boston and Tokyo Lipkind lives in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg.
