Gawain Jones

Gawain Christopher B. Jones ( born December 11, 1987 in Keighley ) is an English chess master.

Life

Jones learned to play chess at age four and nine years old he beat in a tournament game an International Master. Jones won or occupied top positions in several tournaments: I. Course at the Open in Porto San Giorgio, 2007 I. Course at the Open in La Laguna in 2007, I. -III. Place in the Open 2010 in Sydney, I.-II. Place in the Commonwealth and South African Open 2011 in Johannesburg and II place in the Corsica Masters 2011 in Bastia. In 2012 he became British Champion for the first time. He scored in the discharged state championship in North Shields 9 points from 11 games and won a playoff against the tied Stephen Gordon 2-0.

The title of International Master in 2004 was Jones, the needed standards he achieved in April 2003 in the Neckar- Open in Deizisau, in June / July 2004 in the K41 tournament in Copenhagen, and in August 2004 at the British Championships in Scarborough .. The title of a Grandmaster Gawain Jones was awarded in 2007, he fulfilled the required standards in September 2006 in the championship of the EU in Liverpool, in October 2006 at the European Club Cup in joining and in the Four Nations Chess League 2006/07.

Gawain Jones is married to the New Zealand chess player Sue Maroroa.

Gawain Jones took part with the England team at the Chess Olympiads of 2008, 2010 and 2012. In European Team Championships he was 2007, 2011 and 2013, the English selection.

Gawain Jones was used in the British Four Nations Chess League ( 4NCL ) for the first time in the season 2000/ 01 by Thistle White Rose, for which he also played the following season. In the season 2002/ 03 he played with Perceptron Youth from 2005 to 2008 in Slough. After playing again at White Rose in the 2008 /09 season, he was in 2011 with British Pride and Prejudice team champion. In the 2011/12 season he played again at White Rose, since 2012 at Guildford A & DC, with whom he won the 2013 4NCL. In the German Chess Bundesliga he played in the 2011/12 season for the SC Remagen, after the descent of Remagen, he joined the chess society Solingen.
