Gearbox Software LLC ( gearbox, Eng. Literally gear box or gear ) is an American computer game development company based in Plano, Texas. It was founded in Dallas in January 1999 by several experienced game designers (including Randy Pitchford ).

Company History

After the founding of the company first developed games for Valve ( Half-Life: Opposing Force, Half-Life: Blue Shift ). Later, she also took over several ports ( Half-Life for PlayStation 2, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 for PC James Bond 007: Nightfire for PC, Halo: Combat Evolved for PC and Macintosh) for other companies.

First game development studio working on the game Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30, which was released in the first quarter of 2005. The sequel to Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood has a new single-player missions, improved artificial intelligence, more tactical depth and EAX 4.0 support. The third part of the Brothers -in- Arms series goes by the name of Hell's Highway and was developed for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. As a graphic frame the Unreal Engine 3 has been used.

In addition, Gearbox produced on behalf of Sega Aliens: Colonial Marines, a first-person shooter based on the Alien films.
