The company Gebrüder Alexander based in Mainz, is the oldest musical instrument manufacturer claims to be Germany.

History

Founded by the manufacturer of brass instruments in 1782 by Franz Ambros Alexander, who came from a French Huguenot family, and came from the Lower Franconian Miltenberg to Mainz. He was taken there in the craft guild and began the manufacture of musical instruments.

Today, the company is primarily known for its horns, which have an excellent reputation for horn players in the world. In particular, the Model 103 is regarded as the standard instrument German symphony and opera orchestras. However, for the range of products include trumpets, flugelhorn, Wagner tuba, tenor horns, baritones and tubas.

225th anniversary

On the occasion of the 225th company anniversary presented the music publisher Schott International an anniversary hymn, composed by Enjott Schneider as a gift. The 225 horn interior and horn players aged 6-85 years who had followed a global call to including famous horn players such as Professors Hermann Baumann, Christian Lampert, Wolfgang Gaag and Peter Arnold had only a few days to rehearse the challenging twelve -part anthem. In the meantime, the city of Mainz has expressed interest to adopt the anthem as Mainz Stadtfanfare.

The company also manages the music business Music Alexander in Bahnhofstrasse 9 in Mainz as well as the piano house music Alexander in Peter Cornelius Conservatory.
