Geography

The municipality is located on the southeastern edge of the Waldviertel region at the transition in the western foothills of the Tulln field north of the Danube in Lower Austria. The area of ​​the municipality covers 18.87 square kilometers. 8.5 percent of the area is forested.

History

This area was inhabited in the Neolithic period, which later became " La Tène period " ( finds in Gedersdorf ), and later by the Celts, the Quadi and the Germans. In August 2002, the church sank in the flood. The nearby Kamp broke through the levees and flooded the whole area. The villages were run over by two tidal waves. Only the village Gedersdorf was not affected by the millennium flood.
