Hated, damned, idolized ... the last few years is the first best-of album of the German rock band Böhse Onkelz. It was released on 31 October 1994 on the label Bellaphon Records. The name goes back to the same song, the first time in 1992 on the album Heilige Lieder appeared. The Best of consists of two CDs, the second CD contains only four remixes. On the first CD includes 17 songs from the period 1980 to 1994, including two new recordings, a remix and a previously unreleased tracks.

Background

The album came at a time when the Böhse Onkelz had already fulfilled their contract with Bellaphon Records and were looking for a new record company. Bellaphon, however, tried to compile them from the remaining rights to the songs another plate. The Böhse Onkelz had no legal recourse to prevent the release of the album. Therefore, it was decided to re-record some older pieces to make the board more attractive. The previously unknown, but even older piece The Böhse Onkelz have the honor, was also re-recorded for this compilation. Following publication of the plate, the Böhse Onkelz switched to Virgin Records. Hated, damned, idolized was not the only compilation that was released against the wishes of the band of former record companies.

The cover is available in red, orange, yellow and black kept and is a 3D effect image of the band name. At the top of the lettering is Hated, damned, idolized and at the bottom ... the last few years.

Title 5, 12 and 13 are new recordings from October 1994, where it is a remix in Title 13. Title 17 was unpublished until now.

Chart success and distinction

The album debuted in the 52nd week of the year 1994 at No. 99 in the German charts and was able to improve in the coming weeks at # 47. Overall, held the Best of ten weeks in the top 100

In 2003, Hated, Damn, Adores excellent because they sell more than 250,000 units in Germany with a gold record.
