Geiersberg (Spessart)

The Geiersberg (or colloquially Breitsol, after its eponymous transmitter ) is 586 m, the highest elevation in the Spessart.

The forested mountain lies exactly on the border between the Bavarian district of Aschaffenburg (municipality free area pipe Brunner forestry ) and the district of Main -Spessart ( Bisch Brunner forest, since 2009 part of the municipality Bischbrunn ), about 2 to 3 km east of the motorway service area and junction Rohrbrunn at the A 3 between Aschaffenburg and Würzburg. On the sidelines of the summit, the state road leading in 2312 (formerly the Federal Road 8) over the mountain.

About 300 meters south of the summit is designed as a hybrid tower 124 meters high transmitting tower. Its base is a freestanding steel framework tower. The transmitters are located on the territory of the municipality Bischbrunn.

Until the switchover to DVB - T on November 25, 2008, the following programs were broadcast in analog PAL:

The program The first one ( BR) came while also from Pfaff mountain near Aschaffenburg, from which the radio programs are transmitted. Since November 25, 2008 is eligible for the Spessart DVB- T from Pfaff mountain. The site Geiersberg is closed with respect to radio broadcasts.
