Gendt

Gendt is a town and former municipality in Nijmegen. It is located near Arnhem and Nijmegen in the Dutch province of Gelderland. Gendt is located on the de Waal, five kilometers north-east of Nijmegen. The city has been awarded to the year 1233 the city rights.

Since 1 January 2001 Gendt forms, with the former villages Huissen Bemmel and the new community Lingewaard, which also includes the towns of Angeren, Doornenburg, Haalderen and Ressen belong.

Celebrate

Gendt is regionally for the annual Kersenfeest ( Cherry Festival ) with the choice of cherry Queen and the kersenstampen ( cherry pitching) known. During the festival, there is a village feast and a fun fair, a marquee is set up.

Once a year the Schuttersfeest ( shooting festival ) takes place and Kermis ( fair ) called. On Saturday, the marksman is determined by shooting competition, a Sunday Kerkmis (Church Fair) held and " picked up " the Queen on Monday.
