The UGL participated in 2002 in the strikes against the easing of employment protection by led by Silvio Berlusconi government in which the related party he was involved. A similar organization - a union with nationalist orientation - there are among the major European countries, only in Turkey and France. 1950 UGL was founded as CISNAL and carries since 1996 the present name.
