Joyner and Widmer were already familiar as co-founder of posts originating from Baton Rouge indie-pop band The Eames Era with the music, as they broke up and the two musicians decided to form a new band, the Generationals. With this name, the band was named because of the presidential election in the United States in 2008, when the duo noticed that in discussions about the succession of George W. Bush often the generation change was an issue.

In July 2009, the Generationals released their first album titled Con Law. The Trust EP followed in November 2010, before her second album Actor- Caster was published on March 29, 2011.

As probably the most famous piece of tape applies " Either Way " that after you (Original Title: Going the Distance ) in the film Crazy in 2010 was heard. In January 2011, the song " Trust" was also selected as Pick of the Week at Starbucks.
