Geneviève Brossard de Beaulieu

Renee Marie Genevieve Brossard de Beaulieu (* 1755 in La Rochelle, † 1835 in Paris) was a French painter.

Life

Genevieve Brossard de Beaulieu came into the studio of the painter Jean -Baptiste Greuze to Paris; on the recommendation of her teacher, she studied at the École des Beaux -Arts. She established herself as a successful artist, specializing in historical and mythological genre and portrait painting. In Lille Brossard de Beaulieu ran a school for young ladies until the outbreak of the French Revolution ( 1889-1899 ). With the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy was awarded a state pension.

Some of her works survived the turmoil of the revolutionary years, including a portrait of the Princess Elisabeth Lubomirksa, which is now on display in the National Museum in Warsaw.
